Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who else processes it and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be complied with, so it names the actual services involved.

Who is responsible

MotionKnit is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: support@motionknit.com.

What we collect

Account data. Your email address and a password hash (we never store the password itself). Your credit balance, plan, and the record of credit movements on your account.

Content you upload. Your script and your voiceover, plus any media you add to a project, and the video and timeline the engine produces from them.

Operational data. Project names and settings, render status and timings, error records, and the rate-limiting counters that keep the Service from being abused (which record an IP address and a timestamp).

Payment data. Handled by our payment processor. We receive a record that an order was paid and for how much. We never see or store your card number.

What we do not do

No third-party analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no session-recording tool on this site.

No advertising. We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with anyone for marketing, and we do not build advertising profiles.

No training on your content. Your scripts, voiceovers and output are not used to train models.

Browser storage

We store a sign-in token and your interface preferences (theme and skin) in your browser's local storage. These are necessary for the product to work and to keep you signed in. They are not tracking cookies and they are not readable by anyone else.

Why we process it, and on what basis

To provide the Service — creating your account, running renders, storing your projects. Basis: performance of our contract with you.

To take payment and keep records — billing, credit ledger, invoices. Basis: contract, and our legal obligations.

To keep the Service secure and working — rate limiting, abuse prevention, error diagnosis. Basis: our legitimate interest in a service that is not being attacked or defrauded.

To contact you about your account — verification, render failures, material changes. Basis: contract.

Who else processes your data

Running a render genuinely requires these services. Each acts as our processor and handles only what its job needs:

Cloudflare R2 — stores your uploads, the sourced media and the finished video.
Turso — the account and project database.
Vercel — serves the website and the API.
RunPod — provides the GPU capacity a render runs on.
Google (Gemini), via an API relay — the language model that reads your script to plan the edit.
A payment processor — takes payment and is the merchant of record for your order.
An email provider — sends account and verification email.

Your script text is sent to a language-model provider as part of planning the edit. That is unavoidable in a product that reads a script and decides what each line should show, and we would rather say so plainly than bury it. Your voiceover audio is transcribed on our own infrastructure and is not sent to a language-model provider.

Where your data is held

The services above operate internationally and your data may be processed outside the country you live in, including in the United States and the European Union. Where a transfer leaves a jurisdiction that restricts them, it relies on the standard contractual protections those providers offer.

How long we keep it

Projects and media: until you delete the project or close the account. Deleting a project removes its media from storage — storage is reclaimed by deletion, not by expiry, so nothing sits around silently.

Account record: for as long as the account is open.

Billing records: kept after closure for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Rate-limiting counters: pruned automatically after 24 hours.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict or object to how we use it, and ask for it in a portable form. You can withdraw consent where consent is what we relied on.

Most of this you can do yourself: projects and their media are deletable from the product, and closing the account removes them. For anything else, email support@motionknit.com and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the UK, EU or another region with a data-protection authority and you think we have got something wrong, you have the right to complain to it. We would rather you told us first.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Security

Passwords are stored as salted hashes and never in plain text. Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to what operating the Service requires. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your data.

Changes to this policy

We will update the effective date at the top of this page when this policy changes, and give notice in the product or by email before a material change takes effect.

This page explains what MotionKnit keeps about you and why.

What we collect

Your email address and a hashed password, the scripts and voiceovers you upload, the videos we make from them, and a record of your purchases and credits.

How we use it

To run your account, make your videos and send you emails about your account. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or use your content to train models.

Keeping it safe

Your data is encrypted in transit and stored with established cloud providers, and only what running the service needs can reach it. Deleting a project deletes its files.

Payments

Payments are handled by PayPal. We never see or store your card details. PayPal's own privacy policy covers the payment.
