What MotionKnit is
MotionKnit is software for making video, not a stock library and not a text-to-video model. It does the slow part of editing — cutting the script into beats, finding a picture for each beat, trimming it to the voice — and leaves you a timeline you can change.
The name is two words run together: motion, for the pictures, and knit, for the way the engine stitches each line of a script to the shot that carries it. It has nothing to do with knitwear or the performance fabrics that share the word.
Sourced, not generated
Nothing in a MotionKnit video is synthesised footage. For every beat the engine searches real video and photo libraries, downloads the candidates, looks at them frame by frame and scores them against what the line says. It rejects diagrams, talking heads, watermarked uploads and stills that only pretend to be footage.
That is the reason the output does not carry the look people recognise as AI video, and it is the line MotionKnit is built around.
Who it is for
Creators and small teams who publish narrated video at volume: faceless YouTube channels, documentary and explainer channels, top-ten countdowns, social clips and educational content. No editing experience is needed — the first cut is publishable as it arrives — and the editor is there when you want to change something.
Who runs it
MotionKnit is an independent product, launched in 2026 and not venture-backed. Support goes to a person rather than a ticket queue: write to support@motionknit.com.
